Brass Doors & Window Furniture

Brass is a very popular material for door and window furniture. Polished brass is a stunning bright gold colour and will enhance any type of interior, but is probably seen more in traditional or period homes. We supply the best polished brass door and window furniture in our designer and English manufactured ranges. Only the most advanced lacquer is used and under normal circumstances should give many years of service.

Care & Maintenance

Brass should be cleaned with a cloth moistened with soapy water and then dried thoroughly, or, alternatively, wiped over with a soft cloth with beeswax. Metal cleaners, furniture polish or chemical sprays should never be used on polished brass. Brass of this finish should be handled carefully to retain the original lacquer for as long as possible. Rings will scratch the surface of the lacquer and it will eventually break down and start to tarnish. However, careful handling of polished brass will ensure that it lasts for many years and retains its beautiful shiny finish.

Antique Finish for your Doors and Window furniture

Brass door and window furniture can also be unlacquered. This means that over time and with normal handling it will lose its initial shine and become more mellow and ‘antique’ looking. Unlacquered brass does however require regular cleaning with a brass cleaning product.

Brass is also available as satin brass, which gives the material a matt, slightly textured finish which looks very effective indeed, particularly on natural wood doors. Antique brass is also very attractive on old pine, or mellow oak doors and windows and, if you are looking for an authentic antique look then this is the finish to go for.

Period & Contemporary Styling with Brass Door Handles and Door Knobs

Brass door handles and door knobs are available in a massive range of styles, from classic modern to authentic period. The Georgian rope design and Regency beaded design perfectly complement interiors from these periods. Similarly, brass cupboard knobs and handles can give a lift to tired kitchen cabinets, bedroom and bathroom furniture.

There is a small range of products available in stainless brass PVD. This advanced vacuum treated process renders the surface of the product impervious to damage in normal use, including oxidation, wear and abrasion, making it particularly suitable for outdoors. These products offer a 25 year finish guarantee.
