Parliament & Projection

Parliament and Projection hinges are typically used to allow doors to open fully up to 180 degrees, often a pair of doors dividing rooms or pairs of French Doors. These days they are generally made form brass or stainless steel, plain steel parliament hinges are a thing of the past.
Why Specify Parliament Hinges Vs Projection Hinges
Projection hinges simply carry more weight than Parliament hinges. Use a brass parliament hinge, sometimes referred to as a butterfly hinge, when the door is not too heavy, up to around 20Kg. Use a stainless steel version when the door is up to around 40Kg, but for heavier doors consider using a projection hinge.
Once the Doors are Open
Once you have opened your French doors back against the wall or as far as you can you will potentially need a cabin hook to hold open the doors open. the most common size to use is an 8″ or 203mm long version. they come in brass, chrome, satin chrome, stainless steel, antique brass and many other finishes to special order.
