Rim Locks

A rim lock is fitted to the face of the door. Often a door is too thin to accept a mortice lock, so a rim lock is fitted instead. They are generally seen in older period properties such as small cottages which may have smaller and thinner pine or oak doors.

They can look very attractive and are operated by a rim knob which fits onto the face of the lock on one side of the door. Rim knobs are available in fairly traditional shapes such as round, ball, mushroom and oval.
Rim locks are available in a variety of finishes, such as grey enamel, black, chrome and brass.
