This imparts a much more spacious aesthetic, and these Horizontal Locks are used to great effect on the Midrail of panelled doors. They were often fitted in the Georgian and Victorian times, typically in grand or more expensive homes, where a traditional rim lock was viewed as too 'rustic. They also allow the key and lever handle or knob to be at the same height, which reduces the risk of catching a finger in the door. NOTE: NOT suitable for fitting with a heavy un-sprung door knob.
