Description

Aged Bronze - manufactured from solid bronze containing a minimum of 85% copper. Polished Bronze - made from solid bronze containing a minimum of 85% copper. Black - a popular choice in traditional settings. During the manufacturing process, our Black products are baked in a high-temperature oven, giving them durable, corrosion-resistant qualities. This natural finish is a far softer alternative to black powder coating. Polished Nickel - manufactured from a solid brass base with high-quality plating. Its subtle sheen offers a bold contrast on stained and painted timber alike. If left untouched, this finish will oxidise over time and naturally age to create a historically beautiful look. Polished Chrome - made from a base of solid brass coated with a durable chrome plating to give an exceedingly high-sheen finish. The From The Anvil Letterplate is a Solid Brass or Bronze traditionally designed letter plate that creates an attractive option for numerous door types. Our manufacturing techniques create contrasting textures on the surface of the metal to create a rich appearance with an abundance of charm. The Welsh-based brand From the Anvil designs and manufactures high-quality, hand-made and functional ironmongery that enhances and revives traditional buildings and brings an authentic and rustic charm to newer builds. During the final stages of manufacturing, we apply a durable, matt lacquer to this finish which helps preserve its distinctive tones. Favoured for its bright, bold appearance, Polished Chrome is well suited to contemporary designs and offers a smooth, mirror finish when polished. This Letter Plate is perfect for a multitude of property types; from townhouses with strikingly painted doors, and country cottage front doors, to Edwardian timber doors. During the final stages of manufacturing, we apply a robust lacquer which helps preserve this bright contrast. It offers an understated alternative to Chrome and is loved for its less reflective appearance and distinctive blue traces. This finish is aged and then subsequently re-polished to highlight the lighter surface areas against the darker, detailed parts. Much like our standard Beeswax, it offers a matt richness with a depth of colour, ranging from blue to deep ochre red. Supplied in SINGLES complete with fixings. Pewter Patina - forged from a durable base of steel and boasts a rich, luxurious appearance. Unlacquered Brass - made from solid, unlacquered brass and have soft, golden hues which offer a depth of reflection. This rich colour offers a beautiful contrast against the repolished surface areas, offering an abundance of charm and character perfect for any period dwelling. Satin Chrome - crafted from a base of solid brass, with a high-quality chrome plating applied to its surface. For traditional doors, we have a system where the letter plate is fitted to the external side of the door and a letter tidy is fitted to the internal side to reduce drafts. This finish is bright, reflective, and extremely versatile. External Beeswax - manufactured using our unique anti-corrosive beeswax. When polished, it offers an impressive depth of reflection and has an appropriate place in modern properties, but its warm tones also make it suitable for traditional settings. This works wonderfully in period dwellings but can also be used to bring a classic twist to contemporary properties. Due to the process used to age the metal, this finish is very dark and has a rich, matt appearance. Available in - Aged Brass - is intentionally tarnished using an accelerated ageing process that causes a dark patina to gather around the edges and recesses of the design. The products are beautifully suited to listed, cottage and period properties because of their timeless appearance. From The Anvil designs are drawn and hand forged in the traditional fashion of English blacksmithing. This finish sits well in characterful, rustic homes, but also works as a contemporary alternative in more modern settings.
