This Davenport Rim Lock is cast by hand using original designs for a beautifully detailed period aesthetic. If desired, this can be easily removed by using light oil (such as WD 40) and a fine grade wire wool. It should be noted that these locks are roughly cast in a manner employed for hundreds of years and as such, they should be thought of primarily as decorative. This product is created using genuine cast iron. This surface rim lock is available either with, or without, the detailed brass manufacturerer's stamp plaque. The lock itself does not meet any modern security standards. The cast iron used in our period collection offers a heavy quality look and feel and showcases the rich, natural beauty and texture of the metal and the brass design on the front of the keep offers classic decorative detailing. The finish is left unlacquered for authenticity. Light surface rust may be present or develop when used in damp environments. You may wish to order a refundable sample before purchasing in larger quantities to make sure it suits the application. PLEASE NOTE: This product is of a rustic nature and is designed to both look and feel as if it has been in use for many years. The cast iron goes through a 5 stage hand finishing process to achieve a natural, authentic finish that will age naturally over time, perfect for traditional and period properties. Ordinarily when regularly used, this product develops it's own patina, but should you wish to afford additional protection, we recommend Maintenance Wax be applied, which will give the iron a protective seal against any moisture. These cast iron rim locks are perfect if you are restoring an old property. Supplied in SINGLES with fixings.
