The Ludlow Foundries 275mm Tee Hinge Black Antique would suit ledged and braced doors on old style properties. It features a smooth arm with an elaborate tear-drop shaped end. It is a simple, yet classic looking door hinge. We recommend that the hinge stretches across 50-60% of the door in order to achieve the desired support and also to add an authentic look. The hinge is normally fitted to the braced side of the door but looks just as good attached to the ledged side.
The tee hinge will require a reasonably strict maintenance program in order to retain its magnificent appearance. Malleable wrought iron is liable to rust so you need to make sure it is regularly oiled using a cloth. An occasional clean with clear wax will also be required. If you live near the coast a more thorough cleaning program will be required. Iron is more vulnerable to sea air.
