From The Anvil designs are drawn and hand forged in the traditional fashion of English blacksmithing. The From The Anvil Gothic Thumb Latch is traditionally used on a ledge and braced door, our thumb latch sets include a decorative door latch with a thumb-shaped lever. Much like their standard Beeswax, it offers a matt richness with a depth of colour, ranging from blue to deep ochre red. The thumb bar passes through the door, lifting the latch bar on the opposite side and allowing the door to open. When this lever is pressed down, it operates a thumb bar. During the manufacturing process, From The Anvil’s Black products are baked in a high-temperature oven, giving them durable, corrosion-resistant qualities. The products are beautifully suited to listed, cottage and period properties because of their timeless appearance. From The Anvil's Blacksmith thumblatches are hammered into shape from mild steel. Thumblatches are typically used in conjunction with a T hinge on traditional plank doors, only suitable for doors up to a maximum thickness of 55mm.
