The Kirkpatrick antique ironwork curly tail window stay is the most commonly-used designs when the preference is for a black antique finish. This design has been being produced by Kirkpatrick for 150 years, but versions of it have been copied by most blacksmiths in years gone by. Matching window stays in the curly tail design are also available.

Secure Locking Options

The curly tail window stay has an optional locking pin for extra security. This should be positioned in place of one of the standard pins and we would recommend that the one at the farthest end of the stay, away from the fixing point, be replaced. This can then be locked and unlocked at will.

Traditional & Contemporary Window Stays

For more contemporary interiors, such as modern barn conversions, the curly tail window stay is also available in a hammered pewter finish. Matching fasteners are also available in pewter as are a number of other items. The more traditional finish is the Kirkpatrick black antique which is a quality black paint finish with an antique appearance.

Genuine English Made Quality Products

Kirkpatrick products have been produced in Walsall for over 150 years and being the market leader, they have over time been copied and imported by others. Very few of these copies are made from whiteheart malleable iron and consequently are unlikely to give the same service and lifespan expected of a quality product. Whilst on our site we sell alternatives to Kirpatrick, which are in our opinion, competitively priced, good quality alternatives, we thoroughly recommend and would always prefer, to sell good quality Kirkpatrick products manufactured in the Walsall factory.
