Door stops and door holders work either in front of the door or behind it. You may wish to stop a door banging against a wall to protect the door handles or knobs as well as your wall from being damaged. For this purpose you should choose a floor or skirting mounted door stop. Floor door stops come in round or oval shapes, usually in brass or chrome with a rubber pad where the door hits it. These can also be made from other materials such as bronze, nickel or aluminium.
Mounted & Unfixed Door Stoppers
A skirting door stop would be mounted on the skirting board and generally be cylindrical in shape with a rubber end. Economy stoppers may be a simple rubber round shape mounted on the floor or the skirting board. Large heavyweight stops can simply be placed in front of a door to hold it back with no fixing required. A door stop can even be incorporated into a robe hook, which when fixed to the top of a door will stop it from hitting the wall and can also be used to hang dressing gowns and coats.
