From 1900, more use was made of black door furniture; at a time of a shortage of domestic staff it required less polishing and maintenance. Additionally the increased admiration for craft styles meant that wrought iron furthered its popularity.

Screw Fix Numbers

Generally only available as screw fix, these black numbers are prevalent in rural locations and on country houses with their rustic décor and handmade appearance on the italicized design.
