Use on Thinner Doors
The flanged rim lock is traditionally used on thinner doors which are not thick enough to accept an internal latch mechanism. A typical example would be a ledge and braced door. As well as being functional a rim look is also aesthetic and there are many designs available.
The flanged rim lock is designed to be reversible, which means it will fit any combination of hinged door, either left hand hinged or right hand hinged. It is, however, only designed to be fitted on the opening side of the door, as are all rim locks, and a reverse strike plate is not available.
As well as the traditional black or grey enamel finish the flanged rim lock is also available in polished brass, polished chrome and satin chrome. Rim knob sets to suit the flanged rim lock are readily available in brass, chrome, satin chrome, black, white porcelain or black & brown plastic.
