The 814 black antique ironwork hinges from Kirkpatrick are traditionally used on ledged and braced doors with either a thumb latch or rim lock. Typically the hinges will be fitted to the braces; however they can also be fitted to the ledged side of the door.

Five Lengths Available

Five lengths are available from 266mm to 533mm to accommodate all door widths. We would recommend that the hinge length used is about 50 to 60% of the door width. This gives a pleasing aesthetic appearance and allows the hinge to fully support the door.

False Hinge Fronts

For those applications where the hinge effect only is required, the 814 hinge is also made as a hinge front or false hinge allowing doors to be traditionally hung on butt hinges and decorated with false hinges for effect.
