Inevitably when two areas of metal come into contact there is an abrasive effect. The constant rubbing action between the knuckles of the hinge will result in a local loss of the protective paint finish. Where this occurs we recommend an occasional light oiling. A regular wipe with a lightly oiled cloth will also remove harmful deposits and keep the rusting process at bay.
