Antique Door Hinges & Hinge Fronts
Tee Hinges - Rustic waxed finish tee hinges and black antique door hinges are used internally on ledged and braced doors. The 'T' part of the hinge is attached to the door frame and the strap of the hinge is fitted to the door, usually on a cross brace. The rule of thumb is thatthe strap should measure up to at least halfway to two thirds of the way across the door. Usually two hinges are sufficient, however a third hinge can be fitted for aesthetic reasons, or if the door is heavier than usual.
- What Size? T-hinges range from 4” (100mm) for small cabinet doors up to approximately 30” (762mm) for garage doors. The most common sizes used on internal doors are 12” (305mm), 15” (380mm) and 18” (450mm).
Tee Hinge Fronts – These are fantastic for aesthetic purposes. By using standard hinges and then fixing tee hinge fronts on either side of the door on top, anyone can create the illusion ofa traditional T-hinge.
Counter Flap Hinges - These hinges are used to hinge flaps on counter tops or bar tops. They are most commonly found in pubs on the bar flap which rises to allow access.
