The Ludlow Foundries traditional V lever handle is the same as the slim line V lever handle, except it is on a wider backplate, which is 5mm wide.  Its V shaped arced handle is a classic design copied by many manufactures.  Care should be taken to ensure your door has enough stile width to accept this width of handle backplate as it will generally require a 76mm deep latch or lock.

Latch, Lock or Bathroom Backplates

The traditional V lever handle is available in 3 variants; latch, standard lock or bathroom .  The latch set will require a mortice latch, the lock set will require either a 3 lever or 5 lever mortice sashlock and the bathroom set will require a mortice bathroom lock.  In each case the lock or latch should preferablty be the 76mm case size.  A 64mm case latch or lock will allowing for the door stop position the handle backplate to close to the edge of the door.

Ludlow Black Antique Finish

Malleable wrought iron is by its very nature susceptible to rusting and should be cared for accordingly, it will require a regular maintenance routine which should include a light application of oil and an occasional application of clear wax.  For these very reasons, black antique furniture is not recommended for external use in coastal areas, although it is often seen on coastal properties.
