Description
The Louis Fraser 500 casement stay is based on the ever popular curly tail or rat tail stay. Used widely in period and country properties this stay design is everlasting, its been around for a few hundred years and I’m sure it will still be around in a couple of hundred years time. This version from Louis Fraser is not only made in malleable iron but is also made in solid cast bronze.

Three Stay Lengths
The 500 stay from Louis Fraser is available in 3 lengths; 8” (203mm), 10” (254mm) and 12” (305mm). Each size is available in either dull black, antique pewter or stunning oil rubbed bronze. Matching fasteners, either locking or non-locking are naturally available, please refer to the related products section.
Dull Black Finish
Cast from malleable iron, each stay is given a protective phosphate undercoat treatment prior to the final coating of black paint. A traditional dip paint process is used after this to aid the dull black appearance. An occasional wiping with a lightly oiled cloth will help to retain the look of the product.
Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish
Cast from solid bronze all items pass through a series of hand applied chemical processes to help achieve this natural patina with the finish completed with a thin coating of beeswax. in time and usage, the original colour of this product will slowly age, giving each piece its own natural uniqueness. Periodic wiping with a lightly oiled cloth or a fine paste beeswax will further help to preserve the look of the product.
Antique Pewter Finish
Cast from malleable iron, these natural cast pieces are subjected to chemical treating and polishing. A coat of clear lacquer is then applied to enhance the final appearance. Periodic wiping with a lightly oiled cloth will further help to preserve the look of the product.
