Suits Most Makes of Exit Hardware

Panic Hardware & Emergency Exit Pushbars

The most common way to allow for emergency evacuation of any public office or building is by the use of panic hardware. The most widely used form is usually described as a panic bolt.

Panic Bolts & Latches

A panic bolt is a bar across the door at approximately mid height, with up and down push rods to latch the door at the top and bottom. A panic latch is a simple bar across the middle of the door and a panic push pad is simply a pad located close to the edge of the door.

Meeting Building Regulations

Recently, regulations have dictated that push pads can not be used in public areas. They can only be used in situations such as a small office where every one in the building is familiar with their operation. To meet current building regulations, public buildings require the minimum of a panic latch.

On double emergency exit doors it is also a requirement that whichever door is pushed first out of the pair must open. Hence, it is vitally important to fit the correct type of approved panic hardware to a double door set. If in doubt, please call the customer services team to discuss your application.
