Our electrical accessories are British manufactured and assembled using only the finest materials. By undertaking all of the processes from polishing, dipping and lacquering face plates, installing the required inserts and then hand finishing the accessory, product quality can be controlled to extremely high standards. Solid brass plates are treated with an electrophoretic finish which has chromate protection and a fine coat of oven-stoved lacquer. The finish is very hard and durable and the only treatment required is the occasional use of a wax-based polish applied with a dry cloth.
Maintaining The Finish
Never use ‘Brasso’ or similar abrasive solvent polishes or paint-removing solvents/treatments. Under most conditions the electrophoretic finish guarantees full protection, however, installation on wet plaster or wet paint is best avoided as some plasters and recently developed paints contain alkali/solvents which may damage the finish of your electrical accessories.
Electrical Legal Restrictions
New legislation (Part P) now restricts the electrical jobs that a non-qualified person can undertake. If you are at all unsure of your own ability then call in the experts. Part P applies to electrical installations in or attached to buildings or parts of buildings comprising:
- Dwelling houses and flats
- Dwellings and business premises that have a common supply – eg, shops and public houses with a flat above
- Common access areas in blocks of flats such as corridors and staircases
- Shared amenities of blocks of flats, such as laundries and gymnasiums
Part P also applies to parts of the above electrical installations in or on land associated with the buildings. This includes fixed lighting and pond pumps in gardens and outbuildings such as sheds, detached garages and greenhouses.
