For many years budget door hardware was always aluminium. However, recently cheaper imported brassware and stainless steel have replaced this popular material.
Basic Materials & Finishes
Budget hardware was in general, low quality brass produced in Asia by sand casting methods. The quality of finish was adequate but not to a high standard. Hence, mass produced stainless steel hardware and die cast brassware is now favoured since it is more durable and more contemporary.
Although limited, the range of hardware is generally adequate enough to equip a basic flat or house.
