Description
The Chubb 3U74E 5 Lever Sashlock is commonly used for security on domestic back doors and French doors. Tested to BS3621 it is Insurance Company approved. However when fitted to pairs of doors with a rebate, separate secure bolts should be fitted to the slave door in order to maintain the security of the lock. Pairs of doors fitted with simple surface bolts will not meet the minimum Insurance Company requirements, as the door can be opened from the inside without a key.
5 Lever Mechanism Anti-Pick
Mortice locks are available with a 2, 3 or 5 lever mechanism. The higher the number of "levers" the more difficult the lock is to "pick". For front, side and back doors it is recommended that British Standard 5 lever locks are fitted.
Various Mortice Sizes
Mortice locks are available in a range of different case sizes. The case size is the measurement between the faceplate and the back of the lock as measured in millimetres (typically 54mm, 67mm or 80mm). The case size measurement therefore denotes the depth of the mortice slot into the door.
