Description
The J9800 spring hinge set is designed to be used on residential fire doors or any internal domestic door which requires closing. Supplied as a set they can be tensioned as required to give the closing action required. Please note the closing action is by simple spring tension and there is no speed control and latching function, just slam closing. Usually, tensioning the top and bottom hinge is sufficient.
Fire Door Rated Hinge
Made to fit 35-44mm fire doors the steel spring hinge has been tested and certified for use on 1/2 hour fire doors. As required by the latest building regulations they are clearly marked to show they comply with EN1634. To comply with current building control regulations it is necessary to fit three hinges to a fire door. It should also be noted that hinge weight capacity ratings are always quoted using one and a half pairs of hinges per door and these hinges will carry a 60Kg door.
Plated Finishes
The 102mm x 76mm steel single action spring hinge is available in 3 plated finishes; Electro brass, polished chrome and satin chrome. As these are a budget alternative to stainless steel hinges and are made from steel they are not suited to external use. If used on external doors they will over time begin to exhibit patches of rust around the knuckle. For external doors use the better quality stainless steel versions.
