Rustic & Black Antique Hinges & Fronts

Rustic waxed finish tee hinges and black antique finished hinges are used internally on ledged and braced doors. They create an old English rustic atmosphere and are generally used with thumb latches. The ‘T ‘part of the hinge is attached to the door frame and the strap of the hinge is fitted to the door, usually on a cross brace.

The rule of thumb is that the strap should be at least halfway to two thirds of the way across the door. Usually two hinges are sufficient, however a third hinge can be fitted for aesthetic reasons, or if the door is heavier than usual.

T Hinge Effect

To create the ‘T’ hinge effect doors can be hung on standard hinges and a hinge front put on either side of the door to give the illusion of ‘T’ hinges. A hinge front is simply a ’T’ hinge strap with no point.

‘T’ hinges range from 4” (100mm) for small cabinet doors up to approximately 30” (762mm) for garage doors. The most common sizes used on internal doors are 12” (305mm), 15” (380mm) and 18” (450mm).

Counter Flap Hinges

Counter flap hinges are exactly what they say they are; used to hinge flaps on counter tops or bar tops. They are most commonly found in pubs on the bar flap which rises to allow access.

Bar Catches

They come in 2 sizes; 75mm and 100mm. A variety of finishes are available including brass, polished chrome and satin chrome.

Corresponding bar flap catches are also available, in brass, polished chrome and satin chrome, while other attractive finishes can be purchased to order. Please our helpful contact customer services team for a quotation should you require any other finish.
