Thumb Turns & Indicator Bolts
Lever handles on rose (usually a small round or square plate, approx 50mm in diameter) will require a separate thumb turn and release or indicator bolt if they are to operate a bathroom lock deadbolt. The thumb turn and release should be of a shape, design and finish to match the rose of the lever and positioned directly below the rose of the handle. Thumb turns and indicator bolts for the disabled should have a larger turn for ease of identifying and operating.
Indicating Panels & Commercial Designs
Some thumb turns (often used in commercial buildings and commonly called indicator bolts) are likely to have coloured indicator panels or text to indicate whether the room or cubicle is occupied or not.
